Okay, so I don’t normally do this, especially for shows I’m not 100% OMGILTS!! but I had the idea and though I don’t do fan fics, I kinda wanted to share, especially after having watched the last ep of LoK, which was probably one of the better eps of the season, discounting a few issues I had with it. I really wanted to share as a comic but Bolin is honestly too animated, IMO, to draw right and it would have taken forever, not to mention I really suck at drawing people/humans etc, to convey the story sooo…
Don’t mind me, just move right on along…
(ps: I am in no way shipping ANYONE. Don’t read into things too much, k?)
(The idea takes place after the last episode, a short time has passed and Republic City is in the midst of rebuilding, re-electing council members, & squashing what remains of the volatile equalist party, while putting their newly created tech to good use)
Opening: Mid-morning. Mako is making his way to the docks on Airbender Island. Bolin comes running after him, a small box in one had the other waving in the air.
Bolin: Hey! Mako!
Mako: -Sighs and pauses, his foot on the edge of the boat, looking to Bolin as he reaches the dock- What is it Bolin?
Bolin: Morning Mako! Another bright beautiful day over Republic City, don’t you think, just the right kind of day for us…
Mako: -Looks to the captain of the boat who looks about ready to shove off with or without him- Not today Bolin. I have to go meet with Korra and I’m already late as it is, maybe some other time…
Bolin: But you said…
Mako: Another time Bolin. -He steps off the dock and into the boat, signaling for the captain to go-
Bolin: But… -His shoulders droop as the boat steers away toward the city- Okay -he murmurs dejectedly-
Asami: -Watches from the temple doorway, curious and quiet-
Later that morning- Bolin & Pabu take another boat to the mainland with Asami stowing away in the back, following Bolin a good ways behind so as to stay undetected while he weaves his way through the streets, stopping once at a market to pick up some fresh baked buns and a small bouquet of flowers which makes the young woman all the more curious of the brothers broken plans. When Bolin finally stops its in a park like area, Asami comes up behind a tree, her eyes widening as she lays them upon with ”whom” Bolin is speaking.
Bolin: Hi, it’s me again, Bolin…
Pabu: -Squeakles-
Bolin: -Grins- And Pabu… Oh, Mako? -He glances aside, meekly replying-He’ll come around, It’s just that he’s kind of busy with work, helping rebuild the city since, you know-he puts in pridefully- we stopped a war and saved bending as we know it-He takes a cocky swipe of his nose as if to say ‘it was nothing’-Oh that and -he leans in close- he’s got a girlfriend. Don’t tell him I told you! -He leans back with a goofy smile-Her name is Korra and she’s real great, really. She’s also the Avatar! How cool is that?! We live with her and Tenzin and… Mrs. Tenzin and their kids on Airbender Island. There’s also Nagga, Korra’s Polar Bear dog, a bunch of air bison, some staff, guards and Asami who…
Asami: Is standing right behind you…. Bolin?
Bolin:-Startles at Asami’s presence, glancing back to her then away-A-Asami! Hi! When did you get here? How did you get here?
Asami: I’m sorry, I followed you. I was just curious who you were visiting, Mako had made it sound like you didn’t have anyone and…
Bolin: -Happily/invitingly-Say no more! Mom, dad, this is Asami. Asami, my parents-He motions to thea grave where two urns sit, insense burning between them and the flowers Bolin purchased laying before them-
Asami: It is very nice to meet you.-She smiles warmly though a little uncomfortably and turns to Bolin-Do you and your brother come here often.
Bolin: Not as much as we used to, since Mako got a job and we entered the pro-bending circuit and then you know, the whole Amon thing, but that’s okay because they’ll always be right here.-He smiles but Asami doesn’t seem as moved-
Asami: But it will never really be the same as having them by your side…-She laments as she thinks of her mother and her father, before she found out about him being an equalist-
Bolin:-Shrugs- Mako told me about them alot, things I can barely remember myself. But since they’re his stories, it doesn’t feel much different than this.-Asami looks to him in surprise- I don’t really know if his stories really happened, or if they can really hear me, but I like to believe, and if the stories are true, and if they really can hear me I know they’re watching out for us, just like they would be if they were really here.
Asami:-Thinks on this for a moment, looking from the grave to Bolin then beyond to Republic City, reflecting on all that has happened, where she stands and who she’s become after everything-Yeah, maybe.-She smiles and leans over to light a stick of incense-
Bolin: Say, do you like Noodles?-He adds sing-songily- I know a really great place…
Asami: Sure, Bolin.
and with that they turn to leave with Pabu in tow
Later that evening once Korra, Mako, & Tenzin return Asami goes off on her own, returning to her father’s “abandoned” estate, which is still being seized by the Republic Police, finding her way to her mothers memorial.
Asami: Hello mother, it’s me, Asami…
(i was torn between that ending and her giving Mako a good whack for abandoning Bolin for the day- possibly their parents anniversary? You can use your imagination)
Note: If Republic City is anything like how Manhattan is set up, I know Bolin & Mako’s parents probably wouldn’t be buried there, since the only graveyards on the isle of Manhattan are very small and on church property, the main cemetaries being mainly in the other burrows. Bolin probably could have just said his piece in the Air Temple temple too but I like to imagine that if that is/was the case and the two couldn’t visit the grave, Mako made up a place just to put his little brother, and himself, a little more at ease/at home?) *shrugs*
This is all just nonsense really. Enjoy it, or don’t, s’up to you. Just really had to get it out of my head. Pabu was fun to draw.
